Early Tasmanian photos from the Colonial Office UK at Flickr

The National Archives UK has posted a set of 76 early photographs of Tasmania held at the Colonial Office on Flickr. Many are familiar as photographs taken by Samuel Clifford, Thomas J. Nevin (1860s-70s), and John Watt Beattie (1900s).

These two photographs (above) plus the ferns photos were taken by Tasmanian commercial photographer Thomas J. Nevin, reproduced as single photographs from his original stereograph on salt paper, and included in many albums sold as "Tasmanian Views" accredited to his partner in the 1860s-80s, Samuel Clifford who took the Government House series in this collection.
